To finish off their season, the tennis team played their last home games on October 2 and 6 against Shadow Ridge and Rancho respectively.

While the team has room to improve after rebuilding the program this season, the athletes worked together as well as with their coaches to progress individually.

“Coming to the end of our season, especially our last two home games, our group has had this shift in energy and playing style,” player Kandy Valencia Mejia said. “We have definitely been using what our coaches have taught us and paying attention to our opponents.”

On top of improving their skills on the court, the team has worked on the mental aspect of the game, building confidence and mental strength.

“When we lose or don’t score enough points, instead of getting down on ourselves, we reflect [on] what we can do next time,” Valencia Mejia said. “We are now reflecting on why things happened.”
