Valley Cheerleaders, coached by Tiffany Schapero, have been working hard this year to perform for students and faculty, and they have been bonding with each other at games and practices.
The squads started their season with a four-week conditioning camp during the summer to prepare for back to school, which was followed by a two-week cheer camp. Visiting coaches came to Valley to teach advanced stunting techniques and choreography.
“Every stunt group progressed dramatically from last year,” junior Magdalyn Hoffman adds.
This led to the top twelve cheerleaders being selected for the competition team, where they will compete in and out of state.
In addition, the team is wearing pink this October to support Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Each Tuesday, the teams tumble with Olympic Silver medalist Jason Gatson, who is helping with game day and assembly tumbling passes.
The 24-member Varsity squad and 12-member JV team have performed at both assemblies, Welcome Back and Homecoming, and they are working on the next assembly now.
“We look forward to creating and performing our Christmas assembly piece next. It is sure to bring out the spirit of the season in our student body,” Hoffman adds.
